All about the course

Western classical music, an elitist notion till recently, is fast catching up with the Indian audience. With the world becoming a global village, music has also crossed all cultural barriers and can communicate, move, inspire and enthrall audience across the world. The 10 day Foundation Course in Western Classical Music is a sincere attempt to foster an interest in the Western music in a bid to enable the participants to appreciate its nuances and enthuse them to delve deeper into the fascinating world of music. The course entails a birds eye view to the world of western classical music and its diverse musical forms, a beginners guide to piano and violin repertoire, a peek into the world of Opera, Symphony & Choral music, highlights of famous orchestras et al. The lecture sessions will be substantiated with stage recitals for easy understanding.

The Course would be structured as nine modules, each approx of one hour duration, covering the following topics:

  • Concert going, musical forms. Etiquette & established traditions

  Understanding the Vedas

All about the course

Just as good food is important for the well being of the physical body, following Vedic principles and values in our everyday life is the fodder for the development of mind, intellect and soul. The word “Veda” translates from Sanskrit as knowledge of wisdom. ‘Understanding the Vedas’ is an innovative course that strives to connect the participants to one of the greatest heritages of Indian Civilization and gives a peek into the eternal principles of life and living. Though the scriptures date back to the time of creation, they are sophisticated enough to be highly relevant to the current day world.

The Course will consist of a series of lectures on the Vedas, suitably contextualized to the current environment, and is aimed at demystifying and summarizing their vast contents and stimulating the participants to dwell deeper into this vast subject.

The lecture modules will include 12 sessions each of approx 90 minutes. Apart from the lucid presentations by the Panditji, each module would include a group discussion and Q& A session.   The Course modules cover the following topics:

Spirituality is a way of life for Pandit Gowri Shankarji, who started his spiritual pursuit at the tender age of nine, and is among the most talented and prolific spiritual leaders in India. After intense study of the scriptures and Sanskrit language, his abiding interest in spirituality propelled him to attain degree in Vedic Science and Bharatha Shastra from Madras University.

Conferred with the title “Bharata Kala Shastra Prachara Mani” in 1998, he is associated with 23 reputed institutions where he imparts knowledge on array of topics like Natyashastra, Vedas, Indian Culture, Pooja Vidhi etc through lectures, talk shows and demonstrations. 

Panditji has travelled across the globe giving lectures and conferences.
