GaNesha-wandanaa गणेश-वन्दना

Lord GaNesh (गणेश) is the presiding deity of all beginnings. He is the son of Paarwatii (पार्वती) and Shiwa (शिव). Similarly, Rddhi (ऋद्धि) and Siddhi (सिद्धि) are considered to be his consorts. Rddhi literally means progress/prosperity and siddhi means accomplishment/success. Sometimes we achieve accomplishment in a task and then aim for further progress, while other times prosperity gives us a sense of accomplishment. Thus, having invocated Lord GaNesha, we shall achieve both.

He is also called buddhidaataa (बुद्धिदाता) meaning giver of wisdom. Talent and capability are inborn, but without wisdom one cannot use them towards benefit, and hence wisdom is of utmost importance for success in work. A wise man uses his talent and capability not only for his own but also for a collective goal. Lords GaNesha’s blessings are significant in this sense.

This Ganesha-wandanaa is a collection of verses composed in obeisance of Lord Ganesha. Each of them carries a different significance of the deity-devotee relationship. Various kinds of people are engaged in variety of activities and hence everyone would pray to the Lord for success in his own work. Thus, each of the verses has an independent relevance and one may choose to use a particular verse for daily prayer and worship.

Let us invocate Lord gaNesha who is the giver of wisdom, success and progress to all the beings. All the verses are in the विषम meter.
